It’s a controversial subject but a new study has shown that exposure to mobile phone radiation can trigger can trigger cancer in the heart, brain and adrenal glands.
Scientists say there is a clear link in make rats(although the rats were exposed to much higher levels than human phone users experience).
The results came after a 10year study in America which assessed the risks from using 2G and 3G phones. Senior scientist Dr John Bucher at the National Toxicology Programme in Durham, North Carolina said: ‘The exposures used in the studies cannot be compared directly to the exposure that humans experience when using a cell phone.
While the studies focused on 2G and 3G devices, Bucher says it’s still relevant to modern devices, ‘Today’s phones are very complex in that they contain several antennas, for Wi-Fi, GPS, 2G/3G bands, etc.
‘The results of these studies remain relevant to current exposures, although the power levels of the exposures were much higher than typical patterns of human use.
Cancer Research UK said, ‘Even with the latest findings, there’s still no convincing evidence that mobile phones cause cancer in people.
