American singer-song writer, Diana Gordon (formerly known as Wynter Gordon) talked about the day she met legendary South African musician, Hugh Masekela. A fan asked her on Instagram live if she had been to Africa. She said she had only been to Egypt but will like to visit Sub-Saharan Africa.
She went on to say the late Hugh Masekela is one of her favorite Jazz Musicians and she met him when she was 17, during his visit to her highschool. She also said ‘Stimela’ was her favorite song after a fan mentioned it.
Diana’s version of Hugh’s song ‘Stimela’ was influenced by her love for African music and she nailed the lyrics in Zulu language.
